The Steel Coleman Davis Partnership will ensure the following :
Each project is a unique response to the design brief and the projects location
Designing a building is a collaboration between all parties with the Architect playing the lead role helping to define the clients requirements. We want your experience of working with us to be rewarding and enjoyable. We will invest time and energy from the outset to gain a clear understanding of your specific needs and aspirations.
We possess a great wealth of building experience gained over time and through the varied portfolio of buildings we have created. We know the value of simple practical design. We do not shy away from the use of modern construction techniques where appropriate but everything we create is a balance of construction cost, sustainability and performance in use.
Each project will be designed and supervised by one of the partners who will be your point of contact with the practice for the duration of our appointment. You will be guided through the planning and building process.
Not everyone wants a full architectural service or traditional percentage based fee agreement. We will agree a fee and service structure tailor-made to the specific requirements of each and every client.
We endeavor to provide our clients with accurate forecasts of building costs from the earliest stage refining the estimate as the design becomes more detailed. This is made possible by our in house Quantity Surveying Consultant. We are not afraid of telling it as it is allowing our clients to make critical informed decisions.
We will work to an agreed timetable enabling your building to be delivered on the anticipated date.
The Practice was founded in 1953 by Kenneth Steel and from its inception has always undertaken a varied workload.
In the early 90's the Practice embraced computer technology which has now almost completely removed the drawing board as a means of presentation although we do retain the capability of producing hand drawn perspectives as an aid in planning submission, fund raising or marketing.
In 2006 we decided to take the next logical step and abandon the traditional expensive town centre office which few people had the need to visit and instead create our virtual office.
The same staff and technicians have been retained on a contract basis to prepare the required drawings which thanks to the internet can be digitally transmitted between our staff, Clients, Local Authorities, Consultants, Contractors and Developers at the touch of a button. The drawn documentation we produce is to a high standard yet our overheads are low and our carbon footprint is significantly reduced as although we still visit our clients and sites the daily commute is a thing of the past halving our annual mileage.
We work from two locations in Somerset and Devon
